the price paid for patience
is the unkept promise
never to submit
to that again
sure, when forced
to wait
in trance
in tutelage in awe
as absurdity claims
crown
it is best to name
imprisonment
patience
for sake
of perseverance
when the beast came
it held up its end
of the warning
the bulk of report being
constant comparison of depth
and degree of severity around
begrudged resolve that
destination had devolved
into
staying put
and acceptance of
whatever
the cupboard offered
submitting or not
is not much an option when
stakes are pounded deep
and locality is in your genes
you fixate on
future equinox and
ride out a legend
ready to
ante up hard knock scenarios
when ex-pats
call about the status
of survivors and to
question you
about how long
before you take hold
of your senses
and plan an escape
