once, only an ounce of oceanic observance

1.
I seem to be on a jetty
waiting for waves of
subconscious to subside
wind speaks no
particular language
in a season that
never hints at change
the sea –
always on the rise

2.
no longer am I
blood in water
no longer a
rescue fantasy

3.
there is a man o’ war
nearby
I can just make
out it’s shape
a few yards from shore
electric arms
ready for embrace

4.
floating
or
sinking
– each a translation
of the only answer available
