desperate affection

June 3, 2013 § Leave a comment

it was a desperate affection
one with price calculated on
abacus of
nerve and bone

silent, kind separations
padded the loneliness –
that alone
made the fall
easier when it came
even if it did take
a long time

the gifts received
on the descent
packed away

winter forgotten

elsewhere
a reflection
of it flickered
in light
inextinguishable
