rules for living I doubt I’ll ever follow (except perhaps the last one)

April 2, 2013 § 1 Comment

learn
when you are young
to not show any teeth
when you smile
so that when you are old
the gaps won’t
frighten children
or disturb women

become a friend
to the comb
the razor
the tie

take pride in a proper crease
display an unblemished shoe

be careful of
your choice of
hat and
party
affiliation

most importantly

die sitting upright in
your favorite chair
with a complicated book
in your lap
whether you ever
read it
or not
